A Safe Haven Foundation Announces 2017 Heroes & Hope Annual Gala
Honoring Cinespace Film Studio Founder Posthumously Nikolaos Mirkopoulos and Alexander Pissios, CEO of Cinespace Film Studio
Chicago, IL [September 8, 2014] – A Safe Haven Foundation (ASHF) is absolutely delighted to announce its 2017 Annual Gala, Heroes & Hope, which takes place on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Cinespace Film Studios in their Grand Ballroom, located at 2621 West 15th Place, Chicago.
This year’s theme “Heroes & Hope” honors community spirit and partnerships that help amplify A Safe Haven Foundation’s ability to provide valuable transitional and affordable housing and comprehensive services that help to rebuild and restore the lives of over 500 military veterans and for their families a year. Together we are proud to help these deserving heroes pursue and achieve their own independence, with their pride and purpose restored.
This year A Safe Haven Foundation will honor two very important trailblazers, Nick Mirkopoulos, the founder of Cinespace Film Studio as the Posthumous Humanitarian Hero Award recipient; and Alexander Pissios, Cinespace Chief Executive Officer as the Business Hero of the Year honoree.
The event will feature multiple Emmy award winning television personality, Rob Johnson, CBS 2 Chicago, as the evening Celebrity Emcee.
“We could not think of two more deserving people to honor in the Community, than Uncle Nick and Alex. Since they arrived on the scene in Chicago’s North Lawndale community, with a dream to build one of America’s top Film studios, it has been an absolute joy to have them as our neighbors and friends. As innovators in a community desperately in need of some tender loving care, Uncle Nick and Alex have made Chicago’s west side community home to Empire, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and more. As neighbors, we are grateful to have such a visionary team that is interested in both investing alongside all of us in the community creating jobs and growth opportunities that are helping to transition North Lawndale into a great, safe and vibrate place to live,” said Neli Vazquez Rowland, President and Co-Founder of A Safe Haven Foundation.
In 1994, A Safe Haven Foundation and related social business and housing entities were co-founded by US Army Military Veteran, Brian Rowland and his wife Neli Vazquez Rowland. Today, A Safe Haven employs over 200 people and helps over 5,000 people a year, including mothers with children, veterans, youth and adults suffering with multiple underlying issues and barriers to employment and independent living – e.g., substance abuse, unemployment issues, behavioral health and more.
Specifically for veterans, A Safe Haven partners and leverages partnerships with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Defense, along with other public and private partners to achieve an integrated and comprehensive multidisciplinary seamless team approach to individually assess, address and solve the root causes of the various needs of each veteran served, in a sustainable manner that allows them to mainstream and reunite with their families. At A Safe Haven Foundation, we are uniquely able to provide peer-to peer and robust turnkey services, including transitional and supportive housing, treatment, job training, education, and ultimately access to employment and permanent housing.
All proceeds from this event will benefit and improve the lives of homeless veterans and their families residing at A Safe Haven Foundation, a multi-award winning, nonprofit organizations and pioneers in the field of social business enterprise.
